Self-Sufficiency Success Coach (Bilingual)
The Self-Sufficiency Success Coach (Bilingual) will provide case management services to clients that will assist them in obtaining employment and/or improving their employment circumstances. The Success Coach will provide program services including Orientation, Intake, and Enrollment activities, and assist clients in creating a Success Plan, including goals and action steps for completion. The Success Coach will assist the client in completing activities to further employment goals, including preparing resumes, researching position availability, and learning interview skills. The Success Coach will assist the client in locating any outside resources necessary to help ensure successful completion of Success Plan goals.
Reports to: Self-Sufficiency and Family Advocate Program Manager
- Maintains caseload minimum of 45.
- Provides Orientation, Intake, and Enrollment services in a timely manner.
- Assists client to originate a Success Plan documenting short term objectives, long term goals, and specific steps to be taken by both the Success Coach and the client to ensure outcome goals are met.
- Provides job placement activities, including job development, job search assistance, and specific job placement assistance.
- Becomes familiar with and operate an appropriate MIS designed to document all program information including demographics, client progress, employment information, and all requested information for reporting purposes, and termination statistics on every client. Clients in this program will be entered in the AR4CA CSBG system.
- Becomes familiar with asset building programs such as Individual Development Account (homeownership), Earned Income Tax Credit (tax preparation services), NC Saves Program, and financial literacy programs designed to assist clients in building assets and wealth. This philosophy incorporates a philosophy of savings and investment rather than spending and consumption, which the Success Coach must understand and promote.
- Attends meetings and make presentations when necessary.
- Provides reports and data to supervisor as requested.
- Must understand employer hiring processes, how to prepare client resumes, how to prepare clients for job interviews, and other hiring practices and procedures.
- Must be able to demonstrate basic computer knowledge associated with job duties.
- Must be able to provide services both independently and in a team concept.
- Must be able to communicate with clients and associates on all levels including employer CEOs, partner agency staff, and clients from a wide range of diverse backgrounds.
- Display social work related skills to provide services under an intensive, individualized, and holistic model of service provision.
- Must have transportation, and be willing to visit employers, Job Link centers, and other locations involved in job placement activities.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Assists in other special projects as determined by Program Manager, Executive Director or Director of Agency Operations.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
Enhance Community Collaboration
- Becomes familiar with the current Job Link system of employment and training, and use existing services when possible.
- Becomes familiar with local collaborating partners in the community action system to solicit existing services through linkage when possible.
- Becomes familiar with service providers in the areas of childcare, transportation, education, housing services, financial literacy training, and related areas to ensure a client’s ability to sustain employment at an income above 200% poverty and enjoy economic self-sufficiency including standard, affordable housing.
- Becomes thoroughly familiar with educational training programs, such as GED, and one-and two-year programs that lead to gainful employment. It is predicted that large amounts of training will be provided by Forsyth Technical Community College (FTCC), so the employment will need to become familiar with FTCC policies and procedures.
- Becomes familiar with the Career Connections and Prosperity Center operations and be willing to operate services in total collaboration with this Center.
- Be available for community forums, employment fairs, and related community activities that might require weekend and evening hours.
- Becomes aware of Workforce Development principles, guidelines, and procedures as documented under the WIA Program. Employee must fully understand performance based contracting.
- Serves as an ambassador for the Experiment in Self-Reliance and respect the integrity of the organization.
- Serves as a team player and assists in furthering the mission of the organization.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Written and oral fluency in English and Spanish.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, crawl, bend, stoop, climb, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently required to sit and talk. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation that may be used in the performance of duties.
- Requires a four-year college degree in Education, Sociology, Psychology or closely related field.
- Two years of related experience is preferred.
- Must be fluent in Spanish and English (written and oral)
- Prospective employees must be able to pass a drug screening.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Experience working with low-income individuals and families is preferred.
- Must have working knowledge of computer data entry process, Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to quickly grasp other industry-related software.
