Financial Education Series Class Schedule

Sessions Offered:

1. Household Finances/Record Keeping

Understand your individual and household finances by:

  • Tracking household income
  • Managing goods purchased
  • Monitoring service costs
  • Practicing monthly money management
  • Building financial assets

Define and Explaining:

  • Rules of 18
  • Household Partnership
  • North Carolina living wage

Collect and organize household finances by:

  • Building a binder file system
  • Organizing flash drive files
  • Building a category file
  • Building a vital records file
  • Organizing bank statements
  • Organizing credit statements

2. Monthly Budget Planning

Create a written Household Budget by:


  • Income
  • Fixed expenses
  • Variable expenses
  • Investments
  • Reconciling
  • Subtract total household cost from total household income

Learn to read your credit report as well as demonstrate how to dispute and correct your credit issues.

3. Credit Management

Manage Credit by:
Ordering a credit report

  • Learning how to read a credit report
  • Developing a dispute plan
  • Understanding credit status
  • Organizing and managing
  • Debt reduction plan
  • Being aware of predatory lending practices

  • $100 beginning balance on a new $25 savings account! (The goal is to save not withdraw. Remember to document your savings plan with your Success Coach)

    The Financial Education Series will take place every season. Please note that you are required to attend a Series during your time in the Self Sufficiency Program. (Each Series consist of three sessions).
