ESR
has gained a reputation in the community as a "service
brokerage" in
the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County area. Residents can
come to or call ESR to find out about programs offered
by our collaborative partners that may meet their needs
if, after orientation, it is determined that ESR is not
the best agency to provide services in the person's particular
case.
ESR can provide information
about many of the agencies in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County,
the services they provide, the population they serve, and
in some cases, the requirements for receiving services.
Information services may also include such things as job
listings from various potential employers, and where to
find assistance for transportation, and emergency
services.
ESR works closely with
many agencies whose services relate to ours. For example,
ESR has caseworkers in the field at JobLink Career Center
at Forsyth Technical Community College, Goodwill and the
Career connections and Prosperity Center. We also
work closely with the Department of Social Services, Crisis
Control Ministry, United Way, the Employment Security Commission,
the Salvation Army, and many others to create a comprehensive
network of service providers. In addition, ESR has contacts
with many of the faith-based instutions in the community.
ESR provides referrals to services that are beyond the
scope of ESR to provide, such as emergency assistance with
electricity, water, food, and transportation.

All visitors to
ESR are eligible for our Information and Referral
services. Those who do not meet ESR's requirements,
or who would be better served by another agency receive
referrals to the agency or agencies that can provide
the necessary services. ESR usually provides Information
and Referral services to approximately 5,000-6,000
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County residents annually.

In general there are no specific requirements for
Information and Referral services at ESR. However,
agencies to which we refer persons seeking assistance
usually have their own participation requirements.
In cases where we are uncertain of the requirements
of a particular agency to which we are referring
an individual or family, we will usually call to
ascertain whether that family qualifies for services
with that agency. |
